13.8: A Spacetime Symphony explores the concept of the Universe’s creation—not from a theological perspective, but through the lens of astrophysics. The piece takes us on an epic cosmic journey, from the primordial void all the way to the origin of Life.

Inspired by the nine mythological realms of Norse cosmology, Tónlist—the Icelandic word for “music” alongside its runic inscription—paints a series of sonic landscapes that bring each world and its beings to life.

Commissioned by the San Telmo Museum in 2017, this piece pays tribute to the rich and enigmatic witchcraft folklore of the Basque Country. Through sound, it conjures a symbolic akelarre (a witches’ sabbath) inviting listeners into a world of ancient ritual and mystical fervor.

String Quartet

Inspired by the concept of the "Shepard Tone", this piece emulates this sound paradox in its beginning and ending. Taking the overall concept of a continuous ascending or descending tone and dissecting it into its "roots," the piece develops solely based on ascending or descending gestures, aside from a contrasting static section in the middle.

In 1949, Orwell foresaw a dystopian future dominated by tyrants, in which society would be characterized by an absence of individuality and a strong military rule of governance over the populace. Vox deals with the idea of a subjugated society no longer in control of its own fate, as well as the effects of interventionism and the lack of awareness by an anesthetized society.

“Night at the Forge” is a musical tale inspired by Romance de la luna, luna from Lorca’s Gypsy Ballads.
Unfolding in four scenes, the piece evokes the enchanted gaze of a young boy, spellbound by the moon’s beauty. Through sound, we witness his dreamlike ascent as he follows her into the sky—his death rendered not as an end, but as a luminous, metaphorical crossing.
